Little bear doesn't like nursery

Sometimes I feel so inadequate as a parent

Today little bear must have asked a dozen times that we don't go to nursery tomorrow. He doesn't want to go to nursery, he's too tired/too poorly/a child roared at him...

Everyone is baffled. I have been to the nursery on all sorts of odd occasions, and it is far from a pit of vipers. In fact it is a pleasant, clean and stimulating place. I know that they are lovely with him, it is evident.

Last time I took him it was when I had my last lot of physio before Christmas. Poor little mite begged me to leave him with Grandad (darling father had a date, so that couldn't happen) and then, when forcibly left at nursery he sobbed that I was too come back as soon as I can.

I have to keep taking him there, or I am making such a rod for my back when he gets to school. I need the chance for drs appts, clinics etc.

But every day he has been saying that he doesn't want to go to nursery. I am dreading his first day back.

I would think that LB has had three or so cosy weeks at home with you all and doesn't want to go back to his old routine - it's VERY normal in children and in no way symbolic of failing parenting!! Even children like mine at secondary school are a little bit reluctant to get back into the swing of the regular routine sometimes. I am not looking forward to getting up early again myself!

I hope that he would be fine once you have left him there, as the staff will know how to deal with it all and will distract him and before long he will be having fun, and you will be having some time to yourself.

Glad he likes the book.

Thank you for the hug. After a whole day telling me that Grandad could look after him, or an uncle, or an auntie rather than him go to nursery, I feel I need it. I have been told by nursery staff (and believe it as it reflects how he is when I pick him up) that within seconds of being left he is fine. I think it is a 'phase' and I am looking forward to this passing. WS x also book much appreciated!
